To ensure our innovation plan reflected the needs and priorities of our client we conducted data analysis of tender site visits conducted over a three year period (see embodied report). We used feedback and data to identify alternative solutions in how best we could limit our visits to help drive through efficiency in cost savings and CO2 emissions reduction.
We spent time analysing our own commitment to site travel for our client and found that we could eliminate travel time, wear & tear, out of office hours and ultimately make our lives safer both mentally and physically, more importantly save the planet by introducing new technology hardware. Client engineers are issued with light wearable audio cameras, these simply fit onto a safety helmet, with minimal training provided by specialist provider.
Each engineer will be able to provide tenderers with a scripted narrative in line with tender documents previously issued for proposals of the site works. Footage will be live and accessed by all invited tenderers & design team via “Teams Viewer” or equivalent. Offsite attendees can communicate directly with the engineer in a safe manner when all actions and response will be recorded for future reference.
(Ownership of the client) Implemented on a larger scale framework process, a significant amount of savings for all including the client and supply chain working towards Net Zero Targets Ultimately our proposals free up members of the team and operations staff who otherwise would be tied up in travelling miles to and from site.
Three Winning Facts:
- Safety: Proposed wearable technology is very simple to use, requires little training, but ultimately provides a safer solution for all of the supply chain when site visits are requested.
- Impact: Innovated solution to be used more widely in the UK to solve challenges faced by reducing costs & more importantly carbon emission impact.
- Collaboration & Value: Cost affected idea to use new & exiting technology to support substantial improvement and efficiency, financial and carbon cost of an overall project helping towards NetZero initiatives.
