Liverpool John Moores University

Constructing Excellence

We would like to enter Liverpool John Moores University for Client of the Year as they are an ambitious and forward-thinking institution that challenges convention and believes passionately in the concept of ‘One University’ – a community working together to achieve a common student-centred objective within a clear strategy, that they are delivering on.

The University’s mission has driven an ongoing commitment to tackling the challenges our communities currently face and their focus on enriching staff and student wellbeing despite the global COVID-19 Pandemic has never wavered, whilst continually acting as an anchor institution in the City of Liverpool.

Following the declaration of a Climate Emergency by the University they have made significant steps to begin future-proofing their estate to reach their target to become carbon neutral by 2030. This ambitious target is upheld by the creation of a Climate Emergency Board within the University chaired by PhiVickerman, Pro-Vice Chancellor and them being one of the first University’s in the UK to offer a degree course in Climate Change.

Constructing Excellence

The University has adopted a consistent approach to delivering their masterplan projects. This has acted as a catalyst for strong and trusted relationships to be built across the entire project team and a mutual understanding of the overarching student-centred objectives; driving cost savings, programme reductions and most notably positive social and environment impact. As an organisation, Faithful+Gould has been engaged by LJMU on various commissions across the previous year, including but not limited to Building Surveying, ProjectManagement, Quantity Surveying and Principal Designer. This has supported the development of their campus within the region and enabled the expansion and improvement of existing facilities being offered to students within the city. Projects including Copperas Hill redevelopment, AvrilRobarts Library, School Nursing & Allied Health (NAH), Henry Cotton lecture theatre refurbishment, ranging from £50,000 – £65million have been completed with the client committed to delivering social value on all projects to drive the development of the local workforce to their projects.
