From Our Members: LGA – National Construction Category Strategy for Local Government

Constructing Excellence

Our members East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the National Association of Construction Frameworks have worked with the Local Government Association to launch the guide National Construction Category Strategy for Local Government – Effective construction frameworks.  The guide aims to improve value-based outcomes for frameworks, alliances and traditional methods of construction.

The National Construction Category Strategy for Local Government report concerns public sector construction procurement in England. It sets out the benefits for the public sector of collaboration through the use of framework contracts and highlights a number of attributes that are considered to be good practice leading to achievement of best value in construction procurement.

This report updates the 2016 edition of this report with the inclusion of  developments and initiatives. It calls for integrated approach based on continuing and closer relationships with a limited number of suppliers through effective frameworks, which offer distinct benefits over traditional procurement for projects.
