EBN Schools Programme of Works, Manchester City Council

Constructing Excellence

ISG was appointed by Manchester City Council (MCC) through the North West Construction Hub (NWCH) in 2016 to deliver a programme of ten primary schools to meet demand for additional form entry. Delivered across two phases, the modular, new build and refurbishment programme saw
projects delivered across eight existing schools for the 2018/19 academic year in the second phase (c£32 million). An offsite solution was chosen for seven of the eight projects to meet the tight timescales involved and achieve the speed required. Premier Modular (PML) was selected as supply chain partner for six of these: – Ringway Primary School (£3million)

– Crossacres Primary School (3.6million)

– Webster Primary School (£3.5million)

– St James Primary School (£3.7million)

– Beaver Road Primary School (£7.3million)

– Lily Lane Primary School
(£3.4million)

The programme of works showcases what can be achieved through collaboration and integrated team working. With the single team working across the schemes able to learn and continually improve from previous projects, ensuring programme and cost efficiencies were maximised. Through digital construction this team was able to work on one version of the truth, with the overall scheme delivering Manchester City Council’s first fully integrated BIM Level 2 Asset Information Model. We are entering these awards to highlight what we can achieve as an industry by working together.
