At the age of 29, Kier’s Ryan Southern is currently Senior Site Manager on the £14m 8-storey Windmill Green refurbishment/extension project in Manchester city centre.

Since joining Kier as a Graduate Engineer in August 2011, Ryan has been promoted four times and has consistently displayed exemplary leadership skills and a visionary drive for introducing innovations and improvements.
Ryan excels in identifying and instigating ‘process-driven change’ in construction site management and in generating project efficiencies.
Throughout this submission we will demonstrate how Ryan has highlighted, researched and implemented operational and behavioural changes on site. He has gained the respect and trust of project team members at all levels – including directors, senior project managers, subcontractors, labourers, apprentices and stakeholders.
Ryan looks beyond construction for inspiration and seeks technical advances in ways to monitor site safety, quality and efficiency which minimise paperwork and repetitive tasks.
He is a Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) Project Champion and has been awarded seven ‘Blues’ for exemplary site best practices at Bolton Interchange (2014-2017).
Ryan is confident, mature, articulate and dedicated. He knows when to raise issues and excels at mentoring apprentices and younger colleagues. He is firmly on track to become a Future Leader.
