Northumbrian Water and Framework Partners (Esh-MWH, MMB, Interserve, Turner & Townsend and Wood Group) are currently co-locating at Spectrum 5, Seaham. The central hub has allowed the Framework Partnerships team (also known as Run2) to collaboratively work together under one roof, enabling best practice to be shared across the Framework.
Collaborative CSR:
Each company within the Run2 Framework submitted Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) targets in their Best and Final Offer Document (BAFO). After an initial review of the CSR targets, it was agreed that ALL businesses should be working towards a collaborative set of Community Targets.
The Run2 Academy was formed to achieve these collaborative community targets. The Run2 Academy is a working group of key people from each organisation within the Run2 Framework.
The Run2 Academy aims to develop unique and sustainable programs. Programmes will focus on the following streams:
• 12 Week Shared Summer Placements for Undergraduate Students
• Shared Year in Industry Placements for 3rd Year Undergraduate Students
• Work Experience Placements for Year 11 Students
• Apprenticeships
• Work Experience Placements for NEET Groups
Current Issues in the Water Industry:
• Skills Shortage
• Aging Workforce
• Lack of trained new entrants
Shared Summer Placement (SSP) Background
Esh-MWH, working in partnership with Northumbrian Water and Turner & Townsend, piloted the first (SSP) in 2015. One undergraduate student was selected to take part in the 12 week programme which enabled students to gain a wider understanding of the Water Industry. This was the first programme to be developed by the Run2 Academy and the lessons learned from this and subsequent programmes have allowed us to develop to where we are today.
