The Task Force led by Sir John Egan was required to advise the Deputy Prime Minister from the clients’ perspective on the opportunities to improve the efficiency and quality of delivery of UK construction, to reinforce the impetus for change and to make the industry more responsive to customer needs. The Task Force members have experience of radical change and improvement in other industries, including the implementation of lean thinking, as well as experience of delivering improvements in quality and efficiency within their own construction programmes.
The Task Force identified five key drivers for change: committed leadership; a focus on the customer; integrated processes and teams; a quality driven agenda; and, commitment to people.
