The IDBE programme
Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment (IDBE) is a two-year part-time master’s course for built environment professionals, offered jointly by the Departments of Architecture and Engineering. Academic staff are drawn from the two departments and from the wider university, and industry thought-leaders and distinguished practitioners are regular contributors to the programme.
Students spend seven separate residential study weeks at Cambridge University, four during the first year and three during the second year. Two of these weeks will be shared with the cohort starting the year before, and two weeks with the cohort starting the year after. This means that you meet and work closely with people from three different intakes, widening your knowledge and networks across industry and across the world. Written assignments and a final thesis are completed by students outside the residential weeks.
