Ian Thomas Construction (ITC) is family run Civil Engineering and Groundworks business that has gone from strength to strength over the last 3 to 4 years. Earning an enviable reputation as a quality provider; solving complex problems, quality employer; staff retention, but moreover, for successfully delivering projects on either a standalone basis or as recently offering large packages to major contractors. Their one stop approach to groundworks is supplemented by extensive support, training and development ensuring that all site staff ‘‘get it right first time’’.
Following incredible accomplishment with smaller projects with clients such as national trust and various local authorities, the team decided to try their hand at targeting larger projects.
ITC attended a Bouygues ‘Meet the Buyer’ event in conjunction with NPTC and as a result of tendering for the works, were awarded Ysgol Gwmraeg Bro Dur and following outstanding performance, were awarded Phase 2 works at Ysgol Cwm Brombil.
Becoming more successful meant added strain on business process, procedure and quality level of staff, ITC had to ensure Client (Main Contractor) expectation and demands were
met. It was very challenging to say the least, however by working collaboratively with them, their procurement and site teams, ITC were able to understand aside from doing a great job, what they needed from us to ensure success.
ITC have also been cautious in balancing business growth with sustainability whilst ensuring they have all the necessary people and procedures in place to continually exceed client
expectation on safety, quality, programme and cost. They have achieved this with a small but extremely dedicated team who keep a very close eye on all aspects of the business to achieve high levels of efficiency and learning from experiences to continually improve.
