Morgan Sindall has delivered over 40 projects nationally through the Department for Education(DfE) Construction Framework, setting new standards for sustainable, inclusive, and community-focused schools. This submission focuses on our Northwest region, where our project portfolio include:
- Pear Tree Academy, Stockport – completed 2024
- Newhouse Academy, Heywood – Phase 1 completed 2024, Phase 2 ongoing
- Dixons Newall Green Academy, Wythenshawe – mid construction
- Star Radcliffe Academy – enabling works complete, main build underway
- Riverside School, Wirral – at planning stage
- Lydiate School, Liverpool – PCSA imminent
These projects span both mainstream and SEND provision, shaped by local priorities while aligning with the DfE’s core objectives: net-zero carbon in operation, value for money, and educational excellence.
Our approach centres on early engagement, innovation, efficiency and lasting community impact. Through the Client Engagement Meeting (CEM) process, we work collaboratively with stakeholders to guide key decisions and shape learning environments around their unique needs.
This is underpinned by our Intelligent Solutions strategy, which uses digital tools to enable informed design decisions, reduce embodied carbon, and enhance delivery certainty. Our approach ensures programme certainty and the delivery of high-quality schools, on time and within budget.
Social value has been embedded across framework. We’ve supported T Levels, apprenticeships, employment programmes, training opportunities, and local SMEs – ensuring our impact extends well beyond the school gates.
Three Winning Facts:
- We’ve had tears of joy from our end users.
Our Riverside School case study in Q4 demonstrates the significant impact of our pre-construction CEM process. What started as a school content with “making do” evolved into a journey where we guided the school to make the best decisions for their staff and pupils. Delivering schools like Riverside has a profound impact on the community. - Our work has had an impact on those most in need of help.
Through tailored social value activities – including the Construction Academy employment programme at Dixons, a work experience programme for students with behavioural challenges at Newhouse, and our community initiative with The Message – we’ve created life-changing opportunities for individuals who often face barriers to employment. - Our six-school programme has set a high-quality benchmark
Our programme of six schools to date has established a consistent standard of excellence. For each completed project, we carry out a detailed lessons learnt review to capture what worked well and identify areas for improvement. These insights are shared across project teams, both locally and nationally, creating a continuous improvement framework that enhances the delivery of future schools.
Building upon this, Morgan Sindall has developed our own School Common Standards – a ‘kit of parts’ comprising proven design details that meet the performance requirements of the DfE Construction Framework. This reduces the need to redesign from scratch for each project, ensuring time-savings, consistency, quality, and compliance from the outset.
