We have continued to invest in our people and support our supply chain, increasing our training budget by 35% and delivering over 130 training days. Introducing a number of employee benefits to support improved mental health and wellbeing, including a free private health scheme, fitness and dietary training, a mental health APP and ambassador support, this has supported an 8% increase in employee satisfaction.
Our focus on delivering high impact social value outcomes is highlighted through the delivery of a £27m social return on investment within the communities we work, creating 46 new jobs and safeguarding over 2,500 local jobs. Developing 5 partnerships to support over 480 apprentice weeks, our Britcon Foundation also supported 12 charities with 130 volunteering days. Investing over £200k in social value resources including social value calculators to support our clients deliver their Social Value Act and PPN 06/20 requirements. Our Loop tool enables us to measure 139 social value KPIs aligned to the HM Treasury’s Green Book, we also provided mandatory social value and modern slavery training. 81% of our sub-contracts were placed locally in 2022, with 79% placed with MSMEs.
As an SME our supply chain is integral, we have supported upskilling and prompt payment compliancy through e-invoicing, with 97% of payments made within 30 days; and we supported initiatives to reduce retentions.
All our KPIs have been delivered, with 30% exceeded, including becoming a net zero carbon neutral company, securing places on 3 new frameworks, opening a new North East office to expand our operations. We secured one of our largest contracts to date, the £16m Factory for Ideal Heating in Hull and delivered a BREEAM excellent office development to kick-start the £320m Chesterfield Waterside regeneration development.
