Create was formed by husband and wife team Paul and Gill Mathison in 2006, not long before the recession hit the UK economy. Surviving such difficult economic times with the business in its infancy gave the duo the skills to run a lean company, with a focus on employing the right people and developing a lean and efficient operation.
The company could not compete with the low margins in the tendered market. To differentiate it’s offering from competitors, Create began to offer a consultancy as part of its pre-construction service, alongside its construction solution.
Helping clients meet the complex challenges of delivering a development, Create guided clients through the design process, adding value engineering ideas, developing strategies and building a team to meet the construction objectives, effectively providing a one stop shop from concept to completion. As a result, the company negotiates 100% of its workload on a one on one basis and most clients are repeat business.
Create’s reputation was established in the student accommodation sector. Its ability to deliver complex projects, often in live environments and with non-negotiable timeframes saw the company’s reputation grow exponentially. Create now operates in 3 high volume accommodation markets; Hotels, Residential/PRS and Student Accommodation.
With demand for the company’s unique service and a current forward order book in excess of £55 million, the key challenges for the organisation are staff retention/development and supply chain engagement/efficiency.
