Heathrow Airport (Co-Chair of Constructing Excellence)
Phil joined Heathrow in 2003 and became Expansion Programme Director in 2017 accountable for delivering Heathrow’s third runway along with the infrastructure to support it. Previously as Development Director, Phil was accountable for all the Capital works at Heathrow. As Eastern Campus Programme Director, Phil, was accountable for the delivery of the airport’s new Terminal 2. This £2.5bn programme has provided passengers with a new, ‘state of the art’, terminal.
Before Terminal 2, Phil led the completion of the £4.3bn construction of Terminal 5 and prior to that he led the £350 million Terminal 5 Landside Development Project which included the successful completion of the Twin Rivers Diversion and M25 Spur ahead of programme and under budget.
Phil was previously Director of Civil Engineering with TPS Consult, where he was involved in private and public sector schemes from feasibility stage through to design, construction and completion. This included working for BAA on

Mark has 28 years of experience in the construction and real estate sectors, 15 of those served as a partner of EC Harris / Arcadis. In 2016, he established Cast, a specialist real estate and construction consultancy. He is a member of the RICS, and is a Vice Chairman of the Urban Land Institute UK Residential Council and a member of the BPF Build to Rent committee.
Mark is the author of the October 2016 independent review of the UK Construction Labour Market Model entitled ‘Modernise or Die’ jointly sponsored by BEIS and CLG and published via the Construction Leadership Council. On the back of this report, Mark is championing a gradual move in the UK towards more pre-manufacture led construction delivery to improve productivity and predictability for clients. In this regard, his work includes supporting the evolution of central and regional government policy as well as direct involvement with clients

As BRE Group’s Chief Executive, Gillian is responsible for the organisation’s strategy and performance. She works closely with BRE Trustees and the Group Board to define our purpose, vision and long-term goals.
Before joining BRE Group, Gillian was an Executive Director at RICS, where she held a number of roles covering assurance and enforcement of standards, global brand growth and thought leadership. She is passionate about the importance and potential of the built environment in creating sustainable, vibrant and productive life on the planet.
In her earlier career Gillian worked in the UK Civil service and with several professions and industries as a regulator and advocate. She promotes responsible leadership and one of her career highlights was being included in Women of the Future’s inaugural top 50 list of Kind Leaders in 2018.

Daniel runs Roche Civil Engineering with his brother Matthew following in the footsteps of their father, Malcolm who set up the business in 1977.

Chief Technical Officer, Construction Innovation / Hub Technical Director, Atkins
Ron has over 15 years’ experience in the construction industry, having worked in a broad range of roles across the sector, spanning architectural design, sustainable construction, industrial research and innovation strategy and management.
As Technical Director at Atkins, Ron is responsible for shaping the emerging Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) strategy and associated value propositions for this world-leading engineering and design organisation.
Ron concurrently holds a secondment role as Chief Technical Officer with the £72m Government-funded Construction Innovation Hub. He has technical oversight across the Hub programme, and guides collaboration between the Hub’s technical leads, experts and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality outputs and outcomes.
Since 2019 Ron’s been a key figure in the Hub’s successes, notably in his former capacity as Impact Director of the Hub’s Value workstream, where he led the development of the Value Toolkit: a suite of tools to drive value-based decision-making in the built environment. The Toolkit

Melissa is Head of Programmes for the Infrastructure Client Group (ICG), as well as one of the instigators of Our Vision for the Built Environment, and is committed to transforming the built environment sector to produce better outcomes for people and nature. The ICG is leading the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) Infrastructure Industry Working Group, to assist the industry with its recovery from the impact of Covid-19, and she is engaged with the CLC Task Force. She is a member of the World Economic Forum Infrastructure 4.0 Community, Global Infrastructure Hub InfraTech Leaders Ecosystem and co-chair of the Project 13 Adopter Community.
Founder and Managing Director, Construction Coach
With a career spanning over 20 years in the industry as a Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager and Risk Manager, Maria’s interest in personal development led her to become a qualified Personal and Business Coach in 2012.
Maria is passionate about bringing positive, lasting change to the industry and launched Construction Coach in 2014 working with SME’s and micro-businesses to build stronger, more profitable and happier businesses.
Maria’s ethos is all about the ‘Construction Revolution’ which is encouraging the industry to move away from the ‘race to the bottom’ on cost and the boom and bust culture that runs through it. This is reflected in her Construction Revolution podcast interviewing change makers from inside and outside of the industry showing us how we can do things differently.

Tim is Chief Product Director and overall business lead for Collida. An influential voice in the industry, Tim is passionate about rethinking the built environment. He is a member of the Construction Leadership Council’s Manufacturing Group, a contributor to key government and industry reports and until recently was the chairman of Build offsite - a not for profit industry organisation promoting the use of offsite and pre-manufactured solutions. A fellow of the CIOB, Tim holds an MBA from the University of Reading. In his spare time, he is a keen guitarist and footballer, and - through Willmott Dixon’s links with UK charity Building Schools for Africa – an official prince of the Nkwen tribe in Cameroon.
Director, Burges Salmon
Alistair is a Director in the Banking and Finance practice of Burges Salmon LLP, specialising in finance in the real estate sector with a focus on housing and healthcare. Alistair has worked in the market for over 12 years, primarily acting for lenders and investors, across a broad range of projects; from funding single-site schemes, £500m+ residential-led regeneration projects through to facilities to house builders funding multiple schemes.
Alistair is active in "Sustainable Finance" and led on the Firm's first "Green Loan" (in connection with a socially and environmentally sustainable 600-unit scheme in London) and is working on a range of similar initiatives.
Jessie is jointly responsible for the development and delivery of the festival. Her previous roles included working for a leading anti-slavery organisation, developing key stakeholder relationships and supporting organisational growth. Jessie is passionate about social justice and equality. Her work is motivated by her conviction of the value and dignity of every person. She is currently undertaking an MSt in Social Innovation at the Cambridge Judge Business School.
Turner & Townsend (Co-Chair of Constructing Excellence)
David is the UK Infrastructure Managing Director within Turner & Townsend. David has spent 14 years with the business since joining as a graduate in 2004. During that time he has designed and implemented commercial strategies, assurance functions and managed major programme delivery teams for some of the most high profile capital investment programmes in the UK, including at Heathrow Airport, Anglian Water, High Speed 2 and Crossrail. David was previously Head of Cost & Commercial Services across the UK. He is also a member of the firms UK Board and Global Infrastructure Board.
David is passionate about industry performance improvement and has led research into effective commercial performance and assurance on major projects and programmes. Throughout his time with Turner & Townsend, David has actively contributed to industry improvement initiatives, including helping author the UK industry report, Never Waste a Good Crisis. Director, Starspan (G4C Co-Chair)
Caroline Key has worked in the sector for over 13 years. She is national co-chair of the Generation 4 Change Initiative, but Caroline can also be credited with significant contributions to the industry thanks to her past work with the Construction Industry Training Board and working with Constructing Excellence. She is well known throughout industry, with expertise including programme and project management, the development of digital construction strategies, fund management, and the integration of social value benefits into construction. Caroline currently runs her own construction consultancy, Starspan, and is managing the delivery of approximately £20m of construction work.
Kier (G4C Co-Chair)
Ruth is the national co-chair of G4C. G4C provides a unique environment whereby those who are new to the industry can find camaraderie, share ideas and use the network as a platform for getting their voices heard in the industry. The G4C network is an opportunity to be at the forefront of innovative industry thinking and best practices in the sector. Through this role, Ruth has a particular personal interest in promoting and advocating careers in the construction industry to young people through improved accessibility, better industry image and raising awareness of the breadth of professions and roles available. Professionally, Ruth has worked in the industry for over a decade and has been a construction solicitor for over 5 years. She is currently a Legal Counsel for Kier, supporting both their infrastructure and highways businesses. Ruth also has an academic interest in construction law, having recently completed an MSc in
