SUMMARY:Digital Construction Theme Group
DESCRIPTION:The Digital Construction Theme Group previously identified a knowledge gap for robust case studies that clearly demonstrate the benefits of digital construction. Case Studies in the past have lacked rigour in applied statistical methods and suffered from poor quality of data. This meant that the derived findings were only partially meaningful and associated actions only moderately effective in improving the construction industry. The BRE Trust is now funding a Digital Construction Case Study project jointly delivered by Constructing Excellence and the BRE BIM team that seeks to establish what really drives project success to inform industry change initiatives based on evidence rather than anecdote. \nProject manager Thomas Lindner from the BRE BIM team will present the progress so far and future plans as it moves into delivery phase. This will give the Constructing Excellence Digital Construction Theme Group a chance to provide feedback as a key stakeholder in the process. \nAs always those attending the meeting can also attend the excellent thinkBIM half day conference in the afternoon. \nPlease email colm.quinn@constructingexcellence.org.uk

SUMMARY:The Fourth Industrial Revolution – Towards Industry 4.0
DESCRIPTION:Constructing Excellence Annual Conference 2017\nThis year’s Constructing excellence conference will embrace all things digital and take a long hard look at how the industry is embracing Industry4.0/the 4th Industrial Revolution. \nAre we breaking down the walls that have for so long hindered innovation through bringing digital design\, digital construction and pre-manufacturing into the heart of so much that we do? \nDo we have the skills and infrastructure required to match the demands of the revolution? \nAre we as far behind the curve of other industries as we like to believe or is that construction as so often is the case unnecessarily giving itself a bad rep? \nThis year’s conference will bring together some lively and provocative speakers and panellists from across the built environment and the technology industry.  Throughout the day we delve into how the industry can ride the wave of revolution and emerge as a stronger\, more attractive sector. \nProgramme\n09:15 Registration & Networking\n10:00 Introduction- Generation4Change\n10:05 Constructing Excellence Highlights – Don Ward\, Director\, Constructing Excellence\n10:15 Industry perspectives from Constructing Excellence Chairs – Andrew Wolstenholme Crossrail\,  Phil Wilbraham Heathrow Airport\, Mark Farmer Cast\, David Whysall Turner & Townsend\n11:20 Networking Break\n11:40 Panel discussion: will traditional delivery methods become obsolete – Adam Golden IPA & Costain\, Susan Hone-Brooke Construction MTC\, Adam Turk Baxi UK\,  Ian Heptonstall Action Sustainability\,  John Fotherby ECI\n12:40 Q&A Session\n13:00 Lunch\n14:00 Panel discussion: is data the currency of the future? – Neil Thompson Atkins\, Rebecca Lovelace Building People\, Marcus Harling Burges Salmon\, Matt Richardson McCarthy & Stone\, Martin Ganley BRE\n14:50 Q&A Session\n15:00 Networking Break\n15:15 Winner of game announced\n15:20 Closing panel: reflection on the day and setting the question for the G4C Conference – Robin Lapish G4C\, Ben Pritchard G4C\, Caroline Key G4C\, Don Ward Constructing Excellence\, Adam Turk Baxi UK\, Marcus Harling Burges Salmon\n16:15 Close \nBook your place here \nSponsorship\nThis conference is a great opportunity to position your brand alongside that of Constructing Excellence in striving for excellence through collaboration within our industry.
