SUMMARY:Digital Construction Theme Group
DESCRIPTION:The Digital Construction Theme Group previously identified a knowledge gap for robust case studies that clearly demonstrate the benefits of digital construction. Case Studies in the past have lacked rigour in applied statistical methods and suffered from poor quality of data. This meant that the derived findings were only partially meaningful and associated actions only moderately effective in improving the construction industry. The BRE Trust is now funding a Digital Construction Case Study project jointly delivered by Constructing Excellence and the BRE BIM team that seeks to establish what really drives project success to inform industry change initiatives based on evidence rather than anecdote. \nProject manager Thomas Lindner from the BRE BIM team will present the progress so far and future plans as it moves into delivery phase. This will give the Constructing Excellence Digital Construction Theme Group a chance to provide feedback as a key stakeholder in the process. \nAs always those attending the meeting can also attend the excellent thinkBIM half day conference in the afternoon. \nPlease email colm.quinn@constructingexcellence.org.uk

SUMMARY:CIMCIG Chair's Debate 2017
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the CIMCIG Chairman’s Debate\, an annual event where CIMCIG’s senior members meet other key figures in the construction sector for a panel discussion about a key industry issue\, followed by drinks. \nThis year we will be addressing the issue of the industry image. It will be stimulated by a kick off speech by young-at-heart Don Ward\, Chief Executive of Constructing Excellence. Our panel will be made up of Emily Dearman\, AECOM; Charmaine Petty\, Catnic; Robin Lapish\, HS2; and Ben Pritchard\, invent. \nPlease join us at 30 Euston Square\, on October 24. The event will begin at 4pm\, with drinks from around 6pm to 8pm. Why not bring along a young colleague? \nRSVP here https://cimcigchair2017.eventbrite.co.uk

SUMMARY:The future of benchmarking and data in the construction industry
DESCRIPTION:You will be aware of Constructing Excellence’s track record on benchmarking stretching back nearly 20 years to the establishment of the Construction Industry KPIs. Under the new vision to be set out by our new co-Chairmanship we will have a fresh focus on making Constructing Excellence a platform for data driven performance improvement in the construction industry. \nWith that in mind we would now like to hold a meeting with members to discuss current and future ideas around benchmarking and data in the construction industry. This will help to inform us as we develop a new suite of benchmarking products and services with the backing of BRE. \nIf you are interested in attending please email colm.quinn@constructingexcellence.org.uk
