SUMMARY:Energy Transition: Creating the Future Today
DESCRIPTION:There is a significant body of evidence that demonstrates that collaborative delivery mechanisms deliver better outcomes. A range of tried and tested processes\, tools and delivery mechanisms are in place to enable collaborative working. However conventional contracting acts as a barrier to achieving the positive benefits. Collaborative Working & Contracting MEANS Effective And Efficient Use Of Money For ALL Delivery Stakeholders = positive ROI. \nThe scale of the challenge facing energy transition is significant. The industry needs to do a great deal more with very much less: people & money – efficiency is mandatory and effective project teamwork within and between project delivery stakeholders is crucial. \nThe objective of this session is to provide guidance to industry on the changes to project delivery and contracting that are required to support effective and economic energy transition projects. In this session we will invite participants to share their experiences of effective collaborative projects and projects were things have not gone to plan. We will work through scenarios to consider key aspects of project delivery including: \n\nMindset change – how do we support a change in mindset so that all delivery stakeholders are invested in success?\nHow do we drive performance through effective communication and building trust?\nHow do we incentivise improvements on both investment cost and delivery time?\nHow do we change the approach to risk?  Treat risk as a project / business matter to be navigated effectively and opportunities pursued for the benefit of the project and its delivery stakeholders.\n\nJoin us in-person on Tuesday 10th June for this joint ECI and CE session; share your views and experiences and explore how we do better on energy transition projects. \n\nThis event provides Constructing Excellence National members with CPD in partnership with BRE Academy.

SUMMARY:Digital by Default- BuildAudIt: Making Every Building Audit Smarter
DESCRIPTION:Join the CE Digital By Default group on Thursday 10th July for a session on the BuildAudIt Platform. The group will explore how this Innovate UK funded project can make the building audit process smarter. \nBuildAudIt was a 12 month Innovate UK funded project (under their BridgeAI funding scheme)\, involving a consortium including BRE\, Enable My Team\, UNIT9 Apps\, Reusefully and Imperial College. The consortium brought together knowledge and expertise in Pre-retrofit & Pre-demolition audits (PRA / PDA)\, building data collation/analysis and the use of AI including Large Language Models\, natural language processing & visual data recognition. \nThe project has developed a ‘proof-of-concept’ version of an AI-enabled platform for accurate\, cost-effective PDA/PRA’s of existing buildings. However\, we realise that these tools could be applied to a range of surveys / audits of existing building stock\, including sustainability\, fire risk\, condition surveys\, due diligence among other. BRE are now exploring exploitation / commercialisation of project outcomes. \nFind out more. \nThis event provides Constructing Excellence National members with CPD in partnership with BRE Academy.

SUMMARY:BREEAM Resilience Framework Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Following on from last November’s roundtable with the Construction Clients Leadership Group on Resilience – see Resilience\, the Cinderella of Climate Action – Constructing Excellence our colleague’s in BREEAM have now developed a new approach to resilience within BREEAM.   We are hosting an online session with the technical team to review the BREEAM Resilience Framework and share insights. \nClimate change has moved from a future forecast to a present-day reality\, disrupting lives\, businesses\, and the very buildings we occupy. In response\, BREEAM is taking a definitive step. The upcoming Refurbishment and Fit Out (RFO V7) scheme introduces a comprehensive new Resilience category\, fundamentally expanding the definition of sustainable building for an uncertain world. \nOver 40% of the buildings that will stand in 2040 were built before 1980\, long before modern climate risks were a design consideration. The challenge is now twofold: we must decarbonise these assets while also ensuring they can withstand\, adapt\, and thrive amidst increasing shocks of extreme weather and chronic stresses of a changing climate. A building that isn’t future ready cannot be sustainable. Resilience is the critical link that ensures our spaces remain safe\, healthy\, and valuable long into the future. \n  \nBREEAM’s new resilience category provides a robust\, practical framework to future-proof our built environment. It is designed to: \n\nSafeguard occupant health and wellbeing against climate and disruption risks.\nPreserve asset value\, minimise recovery times\, and reduce insurance costs.\nKeep businesses operational by reducing downtime during disruptive events.\nEnsure buildings contribute positively to the resilience of their local areas.\n\n  \nThe framework breaks down climate adaptation interventions into five actionable steps: \n\nHigh level risk screening – early checks to understand climate and natural hazard risks before committing to a site.\nDetailed risk assessment – deeper studies by qualified experts to understand future risks and adaptation needs.\nImplementing resilience and adaptation measures – taking practical steps such as flood defences\, backup systems\, heat protection\, and designing for future upgrades.\nProtection from human error and malicious damage – safeguarding critical systems from accidents\, fire\, or intentional harm.\nLocal resilience contribution – managing surface water run-off\, reducing urban heat\, and supporting wider community resilience.\n\n  \nThis forward-looking approach does more than future-proof assets; it provides a clear pathway to comply with cutting-edge regulatory frameworks and investor demands\, such as the EU Taxonomy and IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures. By demonstrating a certified\, rigorous approach to physical climate risk\, owners can potentially secure favourable terms with insurers in a hardening market. This alignment turns building-level actions into a strategic advantage\, connecting directly to global climate security goals and financial resilience. \nThis event provides Constructing Excellence National members with CPD in partnership with BRE Academy.

SUMMARY:Constructing Excellence Conference 2026
DESCRIPTION:Constructing Excellence Conference 2026\n\nThe Constructing Excellence Annual Conference brings together key decision makers from across the Constructing Excellence Movement and wider construction industry to explore the burning issues of the day and how they relate to Constructing Excellence Mission and Vision. \nThe 2026 Annual Conference\, taking place on 21st January at BMA House\, will explore Actions Not Words: How Will We Deliver the Quality Built Environment We Deserve? \n  \nActions Not Words: How Will We Deliver the Quality Built Environment We Deserve?\nThe arguments about why we need to improve delivery are well made and what needs to be delivered is clearly set out in the 10 year infrastructure strategy. How do we deliver that strategy? How do we ensure that the assets we build and manage meet the fundamental needs of society\, the economy and the environment? \nIn the 2026 Constructing Excellence Annual Conference we will be focussing on the all-important ‘How?’ \nOur established background in sharing best practice demonstrates that improvement comes about through sharing and collaborating to drive meaningful and lasting change. We want the delegates to come away inspired about how they can build on the insight from the day and make meaningful changes in their own organisations\, projects and roles. \nThrough the day we will be considering three core areas of how we delivery excellence: \n-How do we define what we want? \n\nHow do we articulate to the market what we actually value from our built environment.\nHow do we define the outcomes we want from our assets?\nHow do we implement value-based decision-making across programmes and projects?\nWho is leading the way at working collaboratively with the supply chain to deliver on outcomes?\n\nCE Showcase: Value Toolkit\, Performance Measurement\, Climate Action is around the corner with practical examples of what we can do now to better support society. \n-How do we set up for success? \n\nHow do we select delivery mechanisms that will maximise outcomes\nHow do we procure for those outcomes?\nHow do we engage with the market to ensure we get the best for project outcomes?\nHow do we set up for success?\n\nCE Showcase: Gold Standard\, Procurement\, Major Projects Group \n-How do we deliver on that success? \n\nHow do we maximise productivity?\nHow do we deliver successful projects?\nHow do we embrace technology and innovation?\n\nCE Showcase: Digital\, Offsite\, Energy Transition \nSponsors\n\n\n\nGold Sponsor\n \n\nExhibitors and Partners\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\nWe will be regularly updating our Conference Page with further details so keep an eye out for more. \nTo find out more about tickets and sponsorship\, see our 2026 Brochure. \nThis event provides Constructing Excellence National members with CPD in partnership with BRE Academy.

SUMMARY:Climate Action Group- January
DESCRIPTION:Construction and the built environment have a huge role to play in tackling the climate crisis and delivering high quality sustainable buildings and infrastructure. It is a key concern for all built environment stakeholders and influences decision-making in all areas of the asset life cycle from design\, procurement\, construction and operation. \nJoin the Constructing Excellence Climate Action group for their next meeting on Wednesday 28th January\, where we’ll be joined by 2 of the awards winners from the Constructing Excellence National Awards 2025; Rob Charlton\, Chief Executive of Space Group\, winners of the ESG category and Fiona Edwards\, Head of Sustainability at JPA Workspaces\, who won the Climate Action category. \nRob will set out how Space Architects has embedded environmental\, social and governance principles into the way the business is run\, not just into how buildings are designed (more about this below) whilst Fiona will share JPA Workspace’s Climate Action activities with the group. \nThis event provides Constructing Excellence National members with CPD in partnership with BRE Academy. \n  \nSpace Architects – People\, Planet\, Place \nThis presentation will set out how Space Architects has embedded environmental\, social and governance principles into the way the business is run\, not just into how buildings are designed. Rather than treating ESG as a reporting or compliance exercise\, Space has adopted a practical framework structured around People\, Planet and Place. This framework is used to guide strategy\, governance\, investment decisions and day-to-day operations across the practice. \nThis talk will explain how this approach has been implemented in practice\, including: \n\nBuilding a strong\, long-term workplace culture and development structure (People)\nSetting and measuring real carbon and environmental performance targets\, including a commitment to Net Zero by 2030 (Planet)\nFocusing on long-term social value\, quality and impact in the places the practice works (Place)\n\nIt will also touch on how this approach is underpinned by B Corp certification\, Best Companies accreditation and a strong focus on measurement\, data and long-term performance\, and why Space Architects believes ESG must be treated as a core business system rather than a separate initiative. \n  \nBio: Rob Charlton \nRob Charlton is Chief Executive of Space Group\, the Newcastle-based architecture and digital construction group that includes Space Architects\, BIM Technologies\, bimstore and Twinview. He has over 20 years’ experience as an architect focussing on digital delivery and practice leadership\, and has led the transformation of Space into a purpose-led\, sustainability- and data-driven organisation. Under his leadership\, Space has achieved B Corp certification\, 3 star Best Companies accreditation\, a Carbon Neutral Business and committed to Net Zero by 2030.
