SUMMARY:Digital Enablers for Construction Transformation
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will explore the inter-relationships between cutting edge digital technologies and construction business models.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConstructing Excellence is supporting Loughborough University on the DECONT (Digital Enablers for Construction Transformation) research project. DECONT is part of the Transforming Construction Network Plus (N+) led by University College London. DECONT aims to develop future scenarios and technology roadmaps to define industry transformation pathways and stimulate the development of high payback digital enablers. To achieve this aim\, the DECONT team has conducted a series of scenario building focus groups\, workshops and interviews with experts in construction and suppliers of digital technology solutions. \nTo disseminate and test our findings\, we are organising a workshop on 31 March 2020 (from 14.30 to 16.00) Online. You are invited to join this workshop to discuss DECONT future scenarios and technology roadmap\, and develop business models for construction. \nYour input will be invaluable to determine the project output that can be highly relevant to the problems you are facing\, and can potentially influence future policies. \nhttps://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/digital-enablers-for-construction-transformation-tickets-97086814275

SUMMARY:Offsite Manufacturing & Technology - Visit to JLR
DESCRIPTION:I would like to invite you to the Constructing Excellence Offsite Manufacturing and Technology Group visit to the Jaguar Land Rover Castle Bromwich Facility. This visit in collaboration with the Construction Innovation Hub and with support from Tata Steel and Pinsent Masons provides an excellent opportunity to get behind the scenes at one of the most advanced automotive plants in Europe. Automotive is widely recognised as one of the industries that construction can learn most from and this visit will provide an opportunity to get under the skin of how automotive is applying advanced manufacturing techniques to improve productivity and quality. \nWe will also have an opportunity to gain insight into the Construction Innovation Hub’s Quality workstream which draws on experience from the automotive and aerospace sectors. Construction Quality Planning (CQP) applies to new construction products being produced and delivered at scale\, using manufacturing-led approaches. It is a quality toolset aimed at ensuring that components\, sub-assemblies or assemblies meet the required standards. \nWe do hope you will be able to join us. As you will appreciate numbers are strictly limited and we anticipate a high level of interest.  Please contact helpdesk@constructingexcellence.org.uk for further details.

SUMMARY:Constructing Excellence Procurement Group Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Follow on meeting from November Meeting to consider how we convince key procurement stakeholders to change behaviour.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nAs Constructing Excellence Procurement Group members we have a lot of information and evidence and that we wanted to be targeted. There are 3 levels of activities that can lead to genuine and lasting behavioural change. \n– Inspire – Give them the reasoning and context needed to inspire change. This can be done by regular high-level messages. Even though we are targeting a specific audience we can use regular channels and mechanisms such as short videos\, infographics tweets etc. However we should language that resonates with the target audience even though this messaging goes to everyone. \n– Enable – Provide them with the tools and incentivisation to change and sustain change this could be done through workshops or training sessions etc. and re-enforced through high level messaging and targeted re-enforcement \n– Support – support them to sustain and embed change and become champions to inspire others to change – this in turn will amplify the messaging. \nThis workshop session will look at how we achieve this.

SUMMARY:Procuring for Value – Stakeholder Mapping
DESCRIPTION:At the Constructing Excellence Procurement Group Meeting on 19 March there was considerable debate on the blockers and potential solutions to procuring for value. The following 3 areas were identified as the key enablers: \n\nValue based procurement (behaviours) – removing cost as a main driver\nGiving industry momentum\, voice and backing\nRobust metrics in a standardised framework\n\nTo move this forward there is a need to understand the ‘who’. Who are the key leaders? Who is empowered to change this? Who are the influencers? Who are the funders? Who are the blockers? \nThis will be the focus for the workshop on 21 June\, to help understand who is working in this area\, who we need to collaborate with and how we can engage key stakeholders.

SUMMARY:Generation for Tech - Better\, Faster\, Stronger
DESCRIPTION:Technology is changing the built environment forever. Modernising the way we design\, make decisions and interact with one another will lead to a smarter\, more efficient and collaborative construction industry. Or will it? \nThe Generation for Change (G4C) has the potential to fast-track the way we interact with tech.  Join us to explore how the younger generation is using it to make our industry better\, faster\, stronger.  Learn about the pitfalls and the potential and provide your perspective. \nMore details to follow.
