SUMMARY:Developing an Energy Transition Community of Practice
DESCRIPTION:Developing an Energy Transition Community of Practice:\nUnlocking productivity to deliver the infrastructure that will underpin our net zero future\nConstructing Excellence and ECI have long been champions of collaborative working and contracting. We propose to establish a community of practice involving the broadest spectrum of Net Zero participating organisations focussing on driving continual productivity improvement in the delivery of energy transition projects. \nThe community will bring together existing approaches\, signpost the great work being done by groups focussed on skills\, technology and innovation and consider how these can be harnessed to unlock the productivity gains that are crucial to achieving Net Zero. \nThis is a great opportunity to bring together our members and stakeholders who are currently delivering in this area or are keen to apply their expertise building on the body of work in ECI\, CE Nuclear and Hydrogen.  This is an opportunity to focus our existing activities in this space around a common\, critical topic. \nThe community will focus on sharing best practice\, experience\, knowledge and insight on how to implement these solutions in project delivery. Participants will jointly explore how these solutions can be applied on Net Zero projects and how to convince sceptics to come on board in the making the transformational change to how projects are delivered. \nJoin us on 10th January to help us shape this community. \n

SUMMARY:Thriving through Uncertainty – Constructing Excellence Conference 2023
DESCRIPTION:Thriving Through Uncertainty:\nExploring the tools needed to see us through uncertain times.\nSociety has been through over two years of unprecedented disruption\, stimulating irreversible change in how we live and work. In our new reality we are embracing digitalisation like never before\, the need to tackle net zero and climate change is at the heart of government and business decision making.  Global uncertainty is driving inflation\, disrupting supply chains and creating a skills shortage. \nThe Construction Industry has been innovating like never before through initiatives like the Transforming Construction Challenge and the Construction Innovation Hub. The government through the Construction Playbook and changes to procurement regulations wants to see this innovation deployed at scale.   We will be asking how do we implement this transformation. \nThis conference will bring together key influencers from across the Constructing Excellence movement and wider industry to consider how we harness this innovation and push for the transformation that will enable us to thrive in our new reality. \n  \nPresentations\n\nScaling up innovation and technology\nThrough the Transforming Construction Industry Strategy Challenge Fund over £400 million of public and private investment has been made in new construction products\, technologies and techniques. What are those emerging technologies and how will they help us deliver better outcomes? How do we move from research\, demonstration and pilots to commercial implementation? \nChair: Phil Wilbraham \nSpeakers: \n\nKeith Waller\, Construction Innovation Hub\nAndreea Vihristencu\, Asite/G4C\nKarine Bartle\, Wincanton\nDale Sinclair\, WSP\n\n  \nEmbracing a culture that allows people and organisations to thrive\nHow do we create a culture that embraces innovation? SUMMARY:Energy Transition Revolution – Powering the New Age of Project Delivery
DESCRIPTION:The scale\, complexity and speed of the energy transition challenge requires a razor-sharp focus on successful project delivery. But engineering construction still has to deliver conventional energy-related projects. What can be learnt from the past\, and what can we do differently so that energy transition and conventional energy-related projects are delivered consistently successfully for all stakeholders. This means revolutionising the way in which engineering construction delivers projects. Throughout 2023 we will be hosting online events that examine the body of knowledge and practices to achieve successful outcomes and how these can be refined\, developed and applied in the context of an unprecedented need to assure effective project delivery. \nWe aim to collaboratively explore through participants own experiences\, case studies and the latest thinking\, how technologies can enhance project delivery and how to ensure success in each stage of the project. \nWe will be building on established principles and theory and looking at the eight ACTIVE Principles (Achieving Competitiveness Through Innovation & Value Enhancement). While these principles remain relevant\, one of the purposes of this series of work will be to modernise them and bring them up to date for use in today’s world. The principles are as follows: \n\nEffective Project Concept & Definition\nEffective Project Team Management\nEffective Supply Chain Relationships\nEffective Information Management and Communication\nEffective Project Risk Management\nEffective Innovation & Continuous Improvement\nEffective Project Execution\nEffective Performance Measurement\n\n  \nWe will be kicking off on the 14th March with a session on Effective Project Concept and Definition and will be discussing some of the challenges within this area\, before exploring possible solutions.\n
