SUMMARY:Pre-Manufactured Value– Are We Asking the Right Question?
DESCRIPTION:Pre-Manufactured Value (PMV) measures the proportion of a project value that is delivered offsite or nearsite in a drive to increase productivity and the uptake of MMC.  Its use a project KPI\, particularly in government funded projects\, is increasing the uptake of offsite solutions. \nIs this always the right answer? Is it driving the wrong behaviours?  We are joined by a brilliant panel: \n\nHelen Sturdy\, Head of Procure23\nScott Tacchi\, Head of MMC at Sir Robert McAlpine\nPhil Henry\, Market Director\, Genuit Group\nChaired by Alex Small\, Digital Platforms Lead\, Tata Steel\n\nJoin us for what promises to be a lively and interactive discussion.

SUMMARY:Energy Transition Revolution – Powering the New Age of Project Delivery
DESCRIPTION:The scale\, complexity and speed of the energy transition challenge requires a razor-sharp focus on successful project delivery. But engineering construction still has to deliver conventional energy-related projects. What can be learnt from the past\, and what can we do differently so that energy transition and conventional energy-related projects are delivered consistently successfully for all stakeholders. This means revolutionising the way in which engineering construction delivers projects. Throughout 2023 we will be hosting online events that examine the body of knowledge and practices to achieve successful outcomes and how these can be refined\, developed and applied in the context of an unprecedented need to assure effective project delivery. \nWe aim to collaboratively explore through participants own experiences\, case studies and the latest thinking\, how technologies can enhance project delivery and how to ensure success in each stage of the project. \nWe will be building on established principles and theory and looking at the eight ACTIVE Principles (Achieving Competitiveness Through Innovation & Value Enhancement). While these principles remain relevant\, one of the purposes of this series of work will be to modernise them and bring them up to date for use in today’s world. The principles are as follows: \n\nEffective Project Concept & Definition\nEffective Project Team Management\nEffective Supply Chain Relationships\nEffective Information Management and Communication\nEffective Project Risk Management\nEffective Innovation & Continuous Improvement\nEffective Project Execution\nEffective Performance Measurement\n\n  \nWe will be kicking off on the 14th March with a session on Effective Project Concept and Definition and will be discussing some of the challenges within this area\, before exploring possible solutions.\n

DESCRIPTION:Thriving Through Uncertainty:\nExploring the tools needed to see us through uncertain times.\nSociety has been through over two years of unprecedented disruption\, stimulating irreversible change in how we live and work. In our new reality we are embracing digitalisation like never before\, the need to tackle net zero and climate change is at the heart of government and business decision making.  Global uncertainty is driving inflation\, disrupting supply chains and creating a skills shortage. \nThe Construction Industry has been innovating like never before through initiatives like the Transforming Construction Challenge and the Construction Innovation Hub. The government through the Construction Playbook and changes to procurement regulations wants to see this innovation deployed at scale.   We will be asking how do we implement this transformation. \nThis conference will bring together key influencers from across the Constructing Excellence movement and wider industry to consider how we harness this innovation and push for the transformation that will enable us to thrive in our new reality. \n  \nPresentations\n\nScaling up innovation and technology\nThrough the Transforming Construction Industry Strategy Challenge Fund over £400 million of public and private investment has been made in new construction products\, technologies and techniques. What are those emerging technologies and how will they help us deliver better outcomes? How do we move from research\, demonstration and pilots to commercial implementation? \nChair: Phil Wilbraham \nSpeakers: \n\nKeith Waller\, Construction Innovation Hub\nAndreea Vihristencu\, Asite/G4C\nKarine Bartle\, Wincanton\nDale Sinclair\, WSP\n\n  \nEmbracing a culture that allows people and organisations to thrive\nHow do we create a culture that embraces innovation? How do we finally crack the cultural issues that make it difficult to attract and retain talent in the construction industry? How do we unlock the collaborative culture that is the foundation of Constructing Excellence? \nChair: David Whysall \nSpeakers: \n\nLydia McGuinness\, Wates/G4C\nTracey Collins\, Kier\nJennifer Castle\, LHC\nEloise Francis\, BRE\n\n  \nThriving commercially – the foundations for success\nSuccessful transformation needs to be a commercial success. How do we move away from short-term\, transactional approaches to deliver thriving organisations and supply chains\, based on sound commercial relationships? \nChair: Nia Stewart\, Burges Salmon \nSpeakers: \n\nScott Tacchi\, Sir Robert McAlpine\nDavid Mosey\, Kings College Law\nSesitwa Mohlala\, Turner & Townsend\nRaynee De Zoysa\, Collida\nLisa Kelvey\, KPMG\n\n  \nAgenda\n \n\n  \nSee our brochure to find out more about tickets and sponsorship opportunities.\n  \nSponsors\nWe’d like to say a big thank you to our sponsors\, Burges Salmon and Construction Innovation Hub. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\nConfirmed Speakers:\n[wmts id=”18243″] \n

SUMMARY:Digital by Default Series – December – Online event
DESCRIPTION:Digital by Default Series\nDigital is ubiquitous. It is no longer a special\, intangible thing reserved for people with digital or BIM in their job title. We are all to a greater or lesser extent digitally-enabled. The Constructing Excellence Digital Group has moved from being about BIM to Digital Construction to now looking at the implementation of digital in all its forms into construction and the built environment. \nThe CE Digital Group aims to provide a safe space to exchange ideas and challenges\, share best practice and explore emerging technologies and their practical application in the construction context. Whatever your level of digital maturity from just about able to join a zoom call to a digital ninja\, the CE digital group provides a trusted\, safe-space to gain insight\, ask questions and consider how you can better implement digital approaches in your projects and organisation. \nJoin us online in December\, where we will be looking at digital tracking information including input from Rachel Heaton at GS1 on the application of barcode standards in construction\, James Franklin from Kier on implementing tracking from design to installation and an update on Tag and Track technology.

SUMMARY:Exploring a Platform Approach at the Forge - Site Visit
DESCRIPTION:Sir Robert McAlpine is hosting the CE Manufacturing & Technology Group at the ground-breaking Forge project.  \nThe Forge is a 139\,000 square foot\, high-quality office development\, comprising two buildings set to be finished to Cat A – not too unusual a proposition for central London. But its construction is anything but routine: it’s the world’s first large-scale office scheme to be built using a standardised “kit of parts”\, an approach known as platform design for manufacture and assembly (P-DfMA).  Visit: Changing the face of construction at The Forge – Sir Robert McAlpine (srm.com) \nCE Members will have a unique opportunity to see the platform approach in action\, find out more from the team behind this ground-breaking project and consider how this could be applied on future projects.   \n
