SUMMARY:Offsite Manufacturing & Technology- Manufacturers' Information
DESCRIPTION:The landscape around digital information for construction products and manufacturers is changing. In this session we will be exploring three emerging areas: Code for Construction Product Information\, Digital Product Passports and Manufacturers Information Hub. \nAmanda Long from the Code for Construction Product Information will be sharing details on how it is raising standards in construction product information and marketing and drive positive culture change in the manufacturing and supply sector in relation to product information and marketing. \nAlex Small will share insight into insight into Digital Product Passports and how they relate in the UK. In 2024 the EU introduced new regulation requiring nearly all products sold in the EU to feature a Digital Product Passport (DPP). This initiative\, part of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation\, aims to enhance transparency across product value chains by providing comprehensive information about each product’s origin\, materials\, environmental impact\, and disposal recommendations. The DPP is designed to close the gap between consumer demands for transparency and the current lack of reliable product data.  The Manufacturers Information Hub is a single\, global\, access point for all construction product manufacturers’ information. The project\, which is a collaboration between sixteen of Europe’s largest construction product manufacturers\, will significantly reduce the complexity of obtaining Digital Product Passports (DPPs)\, EPD/LCA data\, reuse data\, handover documents and data.’ Attend the session to find out how the project will help your business? \nJoin us for this session\, on Friday 7th February. \nThis event provides Constructing Excellence National members with CPD in partnership with BRE Academy. \n

SUMMARY:Driving Productivity Through Industrialisation
DESCRIPTION:The narrative around MMC is changing. There are increasing calls for government to embrace the principles of ‘industrialisation’ as a means to unlocking productivity in the construction sector. The proposed shift in narrative recognises that our long-held interest in the adoption of manufacturing processes and technologies as a means to higher productivity requires a fundamental change in our traditional project delivery model. \nWhere the traditional construction delivery model promotes constant reinvention in what we deliver and how we deliver it\, Industrialised Construction approaches are focused on driving standardisation\, repeatability and continuous improvement in systems\, processes and relationships across suitable programmes and portfolios of work. Through these approaches\, we can create the conditions for manufacturing supply chains to thrive\, and embrace more productive approaches to design\, logistics\, assembly and beyond. \nOn Thursday 25th April\, the CE Offsite Group will join Ron Lang\, Regional Director at AtkinsRealis\, in a debate on why we should shift our focus towards industrialisation if we are to create a modern industry that embraces technological development\, that attracts and retains the best talent and that efficiently delivers high quality outputs that meet the needs of society.\nWhy not come along and share your thoughts?

SUMMARY:Platforms and Circularity Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:Constructing Excellence is partnering with colleagues UKGBC and IOM3 for an exploratory roundtable on the role that platforms can play in enabling the circular economy.  Platforms and standardised approaches have a huge role to play in delivering quality and productivity and will play a huge role in enabling manufacturers to innovate products that deliver genuine value for end-users. \n  \nCircularity is one of the eight core principles set out in the Construction Innovation Hub’s Platform Rulebook*. ‘To ensure that products have been designed for disassembly\, repair\, or reuse at the end of use and that the manufacturer has provided detailed information on maintenance\, reuse\, disassembly and recovery options.’ \n  \nThis roundtable will explore the role that platforms can play in unlocking circularity and the circularity considerations that those developing platforms need to incorporate.\nJoin us for what promises to be a lively and informative discussion.\n  \n**** The Construction Innovation Hub’s Platform Rulebook defines platforms as: \n• The kit of parts\, associated production processes\, knowledge\, people and relationships required to deliver all or part of construction projects using a platform approach: \n• A product platform provides a stable core which is configured and combined with complementary components (via defined interfaces) to suit a particular project. \n• A product platform also includes the processes\, tools and equipment required for assembly

SUMMARY:Pre-Manufactured Value– Are We Asking the Right Question?
DESCRIPTION:Pre-Manufactured Value (PMV) measures the proportion of a project value that is delivered offsite or nearsite in a drive to increase productivity and the uptake of MMC.  Its use a project KPI\, particularly in government funded projects\, is increasing the uptake of offsite solutions. \nIs this always the right answer? Is it driving the wrong behaviours?  We are joined by a brilliant panel: \n\nHelen Sturdy\, Head of Procure23\nScott Tacchi\, Head of MMC at Sir Robert McAlpine\nPhil Henry\, Market Director\, Genuit Group\nChaired by Alex Small\, Digital Platforms Lead\, Tata Steel\n\nJoin us for what promises to be a lively and interactive discussion.

SUMMARY:Thriving through Uncertainty – Constructing Excellence Conference 2023
DESCRIPTION:Thriving Through Uncertainty:\nExploring the tools needed to see us through uncertain times.\nSociety has been through over two years of unprecedented disruption\, stimulating irreversible change in how we live and work. In our new reality we are embracing digitalisation like never before\, the need to tackle net zero and climate change is at the heart of government and business decision making.  Global uncertainty is driving inflation\, disrupting supply chains and creating a skills shortage. \nThe Construction Industry has been innovating like never before through initiatives like the Transforming Construction Challenge and the Construction Innovation Hub.
