SUMMARY:Digital Drop In November 2020
DESCRIPTION:The pace and uptake of digital technologies in the sector is developing apace. The Constructing Excellence Digital Group will be holding informal ‘Digital Drop-Ins’ on the third Friday of every month to provide members with an opportunity to share ideas\, best practice and seek advice around the key issues impacting our digital journey. \nIn November we will be joined by James Franklin\, Head of BIM & Digital at Kier Construction\, taking us through the realised challenges and benefits in the digital delivery of a modern £253m-new build resettlement prison at Wellingborough\, appointed there by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). \nKier are pioneering a step-change in digital delivery\, supporting an off-site approach\, by pushing the boundaries of BIM Level 2 across multiple threads: bringing together digital design\, data-rich decision making\, 4D\, 5D\, FieldBIM\, digital training schemes\, site drone capture and a digital-first culture. \nJoin us for our Digital Drop In November

SUMMARY:Towards Net Zero - decarbonising the industrial and energy sectors
DESCRIPTION:In order to move to net zero carbon emissions by 2050 we will need to deploy a range of technologies\, including carbon capture and hydrogen\, to decarbonise the industrial and energy sectors. The engineering construction industry will be responsible for designing\, installing and maintaining much of the infrastructure required. Join us on 25 November to find out more about this significant opportunity.\n– Jenny Young from ECITB will share insights into their recently published report Towards Net Zero: The implications of the transition to Net Zero for the Engineering Construction Industry\n– Prof Mercedes Maroto-Valer from IDRIC the Industrial Decarbonisation Research & Innovation Centre will provide insight into the work her centre is doing to accelerate the cost-effective decarbonisation of industry by developing and deploying low-carbon technologies. It also aims to enable the deployment of infrastructure at scale by the mid-2020s. \nJoin us HERE \n
