Transforming the West Midlands through alliancing and collaboration

Constructing Excellence

The Midland Metro Alliance was formed in 2016 to transform the West Midlands by planning and building the best integrated transport system for the future.

It is a unique alliance of nine international partners, including designers, civils and construction experts, recruitment and safety specialists, and the people who know the region best, and a first for the UK light rail industry. In 2018, the Midland Metro Alliance was recognised by the prestigious British Construction Industry Awards in the Partnership of the Year Award. In the same year the organisation, which isn’t a legal entity, joint the New Civil Engineer’s Top 100 companies in the civil engineering sector.

Alliancing has allowed planner, designer and construction expert to essentially sit in the same office – learning from each other, working together, and perhaps most importantly, working efficiently for the betterment of the West Midlands through the development and construction of five light rail schemes which bring £1.35bn of investment to the region.
