Sarah Guy

Sarah Guy originally started at BAM as an administrator in February 2013, having already completed a first class degree in August 2008 in Sport and Exercise Science at Nottingham Trent University. Following a personal development review with her line manager, Sarah stated her ambition was to move into design management, taking what she had been undertaking as a document controller into the role of design manager. Sarah started a career change in 2015 and enrolled on a HNC Construction and the Built Environment Course at Burton and South Derbyshire College on a Day Release Basis in order to upskill her technical skills and knowledge in order to achieve her aspirations to become a design manager. After successfully completing her HNC qualification, Sarah has just enrolled on the BSc Construction Management course at Derby University in order to further enhance her knowledge and achieve her ultimate goal with BAM. Whilst we have seen trainees within the company change their direction and develop skills in other disciplines, Sarah is the first administrator to formally retrain and move into a professional construction field. Sarah has set the benchmark now for others in a similar position to consider their career progression options and with the help of other design management trainees and her experiences on site has taken what she knows and is now applying her knowledge to design management on a complex refurbishment contract in Warwickshire.
