Constructing Excellence welcomes the announcement of a £200 million investment in the nuclear sector to help secure the Clean Growth Agenda. The investment includes £56 million for R&D into advanced nuclear reactors, £86 million for a National Fusion Technology Platform and £40 million to develop a thermal hydraulic facility in North Wales. The deal will help the sector move towards its 2030 vision of:
- 30% reduction in the cost of projects
- Savings of 20% in the cost of decommissioning compared with current estimates
- 40% women in nuclear
- Up to £2 billion domestic and international contract wins
